Journal entry before 7th fight

Before I wrote this entry, I was lying down and the nerves were starting to kick in. I was listening to some music while trying to have a quick nap. While I still had time, I went to my car quickly and wrote a quick journal entry on my feelings before the fight. The point was to keep it short and simple. I didn’t end up winning this one, it was a close split decision but it was nice to look back on what I had written. Have a quick read.

22nd September 2024 - Muay Thai Victoria

“About 2 hours away now. Nerves are starting to show up as usual. About 30 minutes ago I was lying down with my eyes closed, listening to the song “thinking of a place” by The War on Drugs. I like listening to soft music before fights to keep me relaxed.

This morning I was scrolling through Instagram and followed this Thai fighter who was living in the gym we stayed in. I saw something that he posted and it captioned “I am not a smart person, but experience has taught me to be”.

It made me think that no matter how today goes, there will be further challenges down the road for a long time. It feels like today is a montage moment and I just need to do what I am here for. Live through the moment, be focused for now and worry about tomorrow when it is the present.”
